These sealed Soviet “spam cans” contain 440 rounds each of 7.62x54R LPS (light ball with steel core) ammunition, manufactured in 1971 at Factory 10 — the Yuryuzan Machine-Building Plant in the former USSR. This is true Cold War-era surplus ammo, packed in original military configuration for long-term storage.

Can Markings Explained:

  • 7,62 ЛПС ГЖ

    • 7.62 = Caliber

    • ЛПС = Light ball with steel core

    • ГЖ = Steel case (Гильза Железная — lacquered steel casing)

  • Б 24 - 72

    • Likely a factory or powder batch code

    • 24 is the secondary factory code (Novosibirsk)

    • 72 = Packaging lot or line number

  • Circle with “10” inside

    • Indicates Factory 10, the Yuryuzan Machine-Building Plant

Use & Compatibility: This 7.62x54R ammo is designed for rifle platforms — it is not classified as armor-piercing under U.S. law, but it does feature a magnetic steel core. Perfectly compatible with any firearm chambered in 7.62x54R, including:

  • Romanian PSL

  • Mosin-Nagant

  • SVD/Dragunov

  • PKM-style semi-autos

Note: Corrosive-primed. Clean your firearm thoroughly after use. Steel-core bullet — check range rules if shooting indoors.
